You’d be surprised how many people think Costa Rica is an island. I’m not sure where they think that island is… if they’re mixing it up with Puerto Rico, or maybe it’s a Caribbean Island… or maybe it’s off somewhere near Bali. (all of those are indeed “islands”).
But my dear friends, Costa Rica is not an island.
So where is Costa Rica located?
In Central America, between Nicaragua (to our north) and Panama (to the Southeast).
Here’s another little fun fact:
While we are in the Northern Hemisphere, above the equator, our seasons are actually reversed. And… we only have 2 seasons! Rainy and Dry. Or Winter and Summer. So for much of Costa Rica, the “winter” season is May(ish)-November(ish) while the “summer” season is December – April. Yep. it’s “summertime” here when we celebrate the holidays and New Year’s. Kids are also out of (public) school from December-January.
